SUBTLE SMOKES

Subtle Smokey - Brock Collection.jpg

Monochrome pink is all over this season’s runways. Blush toned eyes, cheeks and lips are the ultimate go-to for subtle sophistication.

STEP 1: For the eyes it is all about shimmer. Choose a light champagne for the lid and blend into the crease and lower lash line with a slightly more coral shade. Apply a light pink shimmer on the inner corner to make the eyes pop.  Recommended: Smashbox Cover Shot Palette in Petal Metal.

STEP 2: This look is less about contour and more about adding a flush of colour to the face. Opt for a highlighting blush that catches the light for a  stunning understated look.  Recommended: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Incandescent Electra. Mecca Cosmetica Blush Brush

STEP 3: For the lips opt for something hydrating and nourishing with just a hint of transluscent colour.  Recommended: Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil Adorn

MINIMALISTIC

Minimal - Noon by Noor.jpg

You can never go wrong with a good smokey eye, however for a lot of people the dark greys and blacks are a tad harsh. Opt for subtle taupe and brown tones instead and pair with a defined contour and nude lip.

STEP 1: A creamy eyeshadow base is a quick and easy way to add some colour to your eyes whilst ensuring your eye makeup holds throughout the day and night. Simply swipe it over your lid with a brush or your finger. Recommended: By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow in Misty Rock

STEP 2: To soften the look apply a matte brown powder shadow on top of the creamy base and blend up into the crease and underneath the lower lash line. This look doesn’t have to be precise so don’t be afraid to have a loose hand when blending! Recommended: Smashbox Covershot Eye Shadow Palette Minimalist

STEP 3: Add a coat of your favourite long lasting mascara to finish off the eye look! Recommended: Too Faced Pretty Rich Better Than Sex Mascara

STEP 4: We love a defined contour to balance out the eyes. Choose a matte bronzer a few shades darker than your foundation and apply with an angled brush slightly above the hollows of your cheeks. This will lift the face and give the illusion of high cheekbones. Recommended: Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit

STEP 5: The ultimate subtle smokey eye pairs perfectly with a nude lip. Apply a lippy and you are good to go! Recommended: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Apoline

The no-makeup, makeup look is huge at the moment with models and influencers embracing their natural beauty by enhancing features instead of covering them up.

STEP 1: Start with a light base that adds a hint of colour while hydrating the skin. Apply this all over your face and buff with a brush or beauty blender. Recommended: bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Gel

STEP 2: Add a touch of bronzer to the cheeks to enhance the cheekbones and give the appearance of a healthy glow. This can also be used to add a wash of colour to the eyes. Recommended: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Nude Bronze Light

STEP 3: Apply a cream highlighter to the areas of your face that naturally catch the light such as the cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone. Recommended: RMS Beauty Living Luminiser

STEP 4: To tame the brows simply brush through a tinted brow gel Recommended: Hourglass Arch Brow Volumising Fiber Gel in Soft Brunette

STEP 5: Add a touch of lip gloss to polish off the look and you are good to go! Recommended: Perricone MD No Lipgloss Lipgloss
